Ms. Sumara Khanzada

Ms. Khandaza had 20+ years of experience in the field of clinical psychology, education and evaluating mental and emotional disorders of individuals through observation, interview, and psychological tests, formulating and administering programs of treatment.  She counseled parents of special children, victims of the devastating earthquake that hit Pakistan in 2005, and drug addicts. She also worked in the broadcast media in Islamabad to raise awareness about mental health. When she joined FAST-National University, she brought to the university valuable experience and knowledge and fully utilized it to design a special course for Psychology. The course was unconventional and did not focus on theoretical aspects only; it, on the other hand, informed students about mental health, how to take care of one’s own mental health, and how to also assist others in society to tackle mental health related issues more discreetly. The course equipped students with stress management skills and aimed at personality development. In addition, she offered counseling services to more than a thousand students at the university. Recently, she added the topic “Community Development” to further enhance student’s sense of social responsibility towards the society.
